Efficient filtration operation in CGO filtration
Refineries, oil and gas industry
FAUDI Module filters type f27
A central component of refineries are reactors filled with dirt-sensitive catalyst debris.
These reactor beds are often protected by conventional cartridge filters, which are equipped with filter elements for single use. Depending on the dirt load, replacement of these filter elements results in increased work for maintenance personnel and regular filter failure. In addition, regularly contaminated filter elements must be disposed of at great expense. Although automatic backflush filters solve these problems, they often generate large amounts of backflush volume, which reduces cost-effectiveness. In addition, critical media often tend to bonding and blocking, making complete cleaning of the filter media difficult.
To meet all these challenges, our customer has put its trust in a fully automatic FAUDI modular filter system type 27.
This latest stage in the development of modular filters enables the best possible cleaning efficiency with low backflush volume consumption thanks to gas-assisted backflushing.
The cartridge filters arranged in parallel are pressurized with an inert gas (nitrogen) for backflushing, which in combination with a backflush valve that opens abruptly generates a highly dynamic backflush. This effect also blasts critical contaminants, which tend to bond and block, from the filter elements. The loss of backwash volume is also very low, since only the volume of one filter module is used for regeneration.
The injected inert gas is removed from the process again via a downstream gas separator.
Connections for flushing and evaporation processes are installed as further maintenance and cleaning options.
For maximum safety during operation and emergencies, each filter housing is protected by a safety valve in accordance with our customer’s safety specifications.
In addition to filters and gas separators, intermediate tanks for the backwash liquid have been installed, the level of which is controlled to match the operation of the filter system.
Since many pipelines, pressure vessels and other components are installed in a very confined space and are subjected to various temperature-related expansions and loads due to different process conditions, the entire plant, like many of our systems, was subjected to an FE analysis. This takes into account not only the process conditions, loads from wind and earthquakes, but also customer specifications and national and international regulations.
The high demands of our customer were thus met without exception and FAUDI guarantees safe and efficient filtration operation of the plant.
